A successful start-up accelerator programme returns to the North East with a new home, new partnerships and new focus.

Ignite will run their next 12-week pre-accelerator programme in partnership with the North East Innovation Fund (managed by Northstar), Gateshead Council, and Digital Catapult North East Tees Valley.

Rachel Burdis, Tech Sector Lead at Gateshead Council says, "I've seen the fantastic support offered by ignite on previous programmes and it's great to be able to bring this to Gateshead. The pre-accelerator is just one of the ways we're continuing to help make Gateshead a place where everyone thrives by supporting the growth of the tech and digital sector in the area, as well as building on Gateshead's strength in immersive technology. The programme is aimed at idea and early-stage start-ups and includes investment, desk space at Baltic Quarter and access to facilities within PROTO, so there's a lot to offer entrepreneurs."

Tristan Watson, Managing Director at Ignite says, "The pre-accelerator programme is a great opportunity for anyone who's thought about launching a start-up to take that first step, and we're really excited to be working with Northstar and Proto (Gateshead Council) on tackling these challenges around Ageing and Immersive technology. The North East has a strong heritage of world-changing innovation and we can't wait to see the companies that emerge from the programme."
