The shortlist for the Gateshead Awards 2019 has been announced and the public are being invited to vote for their winners.

The Gateshead Awards take place annually to recognise the contribution of people within the borough who go the extra mile to help their community and to celebrate all those who make a real difference to the lives of others in Gateshead.

Mayor of Gateshead, Councillor Jill Green, said:

"Gateshead is a fantastic place with fantastic people and you can't help but be inspired by all of our nominees. We're delighted that this year local businesses are sponsoring the event as they also felt it was really important to recognise the contribution local people are making.

"Hearing the lengths people will go to to help others makes me even more proud to be from Gateshead and to be representing the borough as Mayor. I'd like to encourage everyone to vote as all of shortlisted nominees are worthy winners."
