Condolences from the Mayor of Gateshead

The Mayor of Gateshead Councillor Allison Ilderton-Thompson has given condolences to the victims and the people of Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray following a terrorist attack in the town.

Gateshead has been twinned with the town in Normandy, northern France since 1974, a relationship that began in 1963 at Felling town council.   

The Mayor of Gateshead will be formally writing to the Mayor of Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray to pass on her condolences on behalf of the people of Gateshead.

Mayor of Gateshead, Councillor Allison Ilderton-Thompson said: “On behalf of the people of Gateshead I want to express our sincere condolences to the people of Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvrary following the horrific attack today. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their loved ones at this difficult time.”
