The EIP was set up in September 2006 in order to bring together existing partnerships to continue to work for the common good of all Gateshead students aged 11-19. It has a clear remit, which includes acting as the “14-19 Partnership” for the Gateshead area, and its membership represents all organisations responsible for educational delivery to secondary aged students, including:

The purpose of the group is to work together to:

Raise achievement and improve behaviour and attendance in all school and college provision

Promote equality, choice and access to a range of high quality learning provision

Support those young people who are at risk of marginalisation or disaffection from participation in education

Ensure students have routes into further or higher education, employment or training so that they can achieve economic wellbeing
