Children's Trusts meet the requirements of the Children Act 2004| that agencies must cooperate to improve the wellbeing of all children and young people are local partnership arrangements to improve children's well-being.

The role of the Board is to:

  • Be the single, strategic body responsible for ensuring all services co-operate to improve outcomes for local children and young people
  • Act as a themed partnership for children and young people within the Gateshead Strategic partnership’s family of partnerships
  • Champion the holistic needs of children and young people and their families and supports a partnership approach across Gateshead in order to address those needs and improve children and young people’s wellbeing.
  • Develop the Children and Young People’s Plan for Gateshead setting out how we will coordinate activity against the agreed priorities, underpinned by our Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA)
  • Consult and engage with children and young people

The Children’s Trust Board works closely with the Local Safeguarding Children Board|.
