Transport Planning

 

Transport Planning brings together a number of transport related activities many of which are explained in more detail below. This includes: liaison with bus companies and Nexus about public transport; developing and putting into action the Gateshead part of the Tyne and Wear Local Transport Plan; working with employers, communities and organisations to improve travel in Gateshead and planning for the future of transport in the area. 

Highways Development Management

In the context of planning enquiries, the highway development control officer provides advice to planning colleagues and to developers on most aspects of travel and transportation within the Borough.

NE Road Safety Project

The NE Road Safety Monitoring Project is a regional resource for road safety and local authority professionals in Tyne and Wear, Northumberland, Durham and Cleveland. The project carries out regional level analysis of road traffic collision and linked data sets enabling better campaign, education, publicity, enforcement and engineering planning.

Traffic and Accident Data Unit

The Traffic and Accident Data Unit collect and manage road traffic accident data and traffic flow data for the five councils of Tyne and Wear. It also manage road traffic accident data for Northumberland County Council and Northumbria Police Force.
