A number of annual permit schemes have been established in the car parks supporting the Town Centre and Gateshead Quays area. The permits offer a substantial saving for drivers who use these car parks on a regular basis. The cost of an annual permit and period of eligibility vary depending on its location.
Permit scheme
The permit schemes run from the 1 April to 31 March of the following year. The actual cost of a permit will be charged on a pro-rata/month with payment required for the whole of any part month.
For example, if you applied for a permit commencing on 15 July and the annual charge is £500, you would be charged £375, calculated as follows: 500 / 12 (months) x 9 (remaining months)
Permits for Mill Road and South Shore Car Parks, which are temporary car parks, are issued six months at a time, 1 April to 30 September and 1 October to 31 March. These permits are also issued pro rata.
