Young People's Organisations
There are a number of services and organisations for young people within Gateshead.
The Youth Information Service (YIS ) provides a comprehensive range of information and advice for all young people. This includes housing, employment, debt and financial advice, volunteering, working abroad, sexual health. For more information please visit their website.
The YIS is part of Gateshead Youth Council, an umbrella organisation for youth projects and young people in Gateshead by providing training, information and advice for youth workers, volunteers, management committees and to young people. The Positive Futures website includes information about a number of projects, organisations and activities for young people in Gateshead.
Connexions Tyne and Wear is a service for young people aged 13 to 19, bringing together a number of organisations which work with young people, including careers and youth services, so all the help they may need is under one roof. Connexions Tyne and Wear offers help to young people with special needs up to the age of 25.
Each young person has their own Personal Adviser, who has experience with all sorts of young people, and can help them regardless of any specialist support they may require.
The Community Links service can provide information for people of all ages about volunteering opportunities with people with learning disabilities.
