Copy Certificates

The records of all births, deaths and marriages that occurred in Gateshead are held from 1837 onwards at Gateshead Register Office.

If you require a birth, death or marriage certificate from a completed register the standard fee is £7. A short birth certificate is available at a cost of £5.50. Cheques should be made payable to the SUPERINTENDENT REGISTRAR. You can also pay by credit and debit card.

If the register is still in use the cost of the certificate is only £3.50 as no search is required. 

You can download an application form below, and then apply for the copy certificate by post or in person. You do not need an appointment to apply for a copy certificate in person. You can also contact us by phone to request a copy certificate and pay by credit or debit card.
