The Register Office is sited in Central Gateshead in the Civic Centre, five minutes walk from the Metro System and Gateshead Bus Station. It is easily accessed by road and there is a car park at the Civic Centre, which may be used by visitors to the building. There is also a specific parking area for official cars, directly outside the office.

An appointment system is in place for the Registration of Births, Deaths, Marriages and Civil Partnerships. Applications for copy certificates are usually dealt with without an appointment. We aim to see you as soon possible and information given to us is regarded as strictly confidential.

The Register Office is open:

• Monday 9.30am - 5.30pm
• Tuesday to Friday 9.30am - 4.00pm
• Saturday by appointment (marriages only)
