The Register Office can now also conduct a Nationality Checking Service| which can lead to British Citizenship|. It also offers a free 'Tell us Once' service which can help you give information to a number of Government departments, Council services and others when you are registering a birth or a death.
There is also information available about Naming Ceremonies| and Renewal of Vows|.
The Register Office is situated in central Gateshead in the Civic Centre, five minutes walk from Gateshead Metro station and Gateshead Bus Station. It is easily accessed by road and there is a car park at the Civic Centre, which may be used by visitors to the building. There is also a specific parking area for official cars, directly outside the office.
An appointment system is in place for the Registration of Births, Deaths, Marriages, Civil Partnerships and the Nationality Checking Service. Applications for copy certificates are usually dealt with without an appointment. We aim to see you as soon possible and information given to us is regarded as strictly confidential.
