Indices of Multiple Deprivation 2010
The Indices of Deprivation 2010 (ID 2010) is the collective name for several separate indices measuring deprivation within all local authority areas in England.
Index of Multiple Deprivation 2010 (IMD 2010)
The most well known index, IMD 2010, measures multiple deprivation for each local authority area as a whole and also for smaller areas within each local authority known as Lower Layer Super Output Areas| (LLSOA). This index is made up of one overall and seven themed Domain| or groupings of deprivation indicators.
The overall domain combines each of the themed domains into a single overall measure of deprivation. The themed domains relate to income, employment, health, education, housing, crime and the living environment. Each themed domain combines multiple quality of life indicators, totalling 38 overall. Further information on the domains and the indicators within can be found in the IMD 2010 Full Report|.
Income Deprivation Affecting Children Index and Income Deprivation Affecting Older People Index
The other indices making up the Indices of Deprivation 2010 are the income deprivation affecting children index and income deprivation affecting older people index. These two supplementary indices have been created as a subset of the income domain.
