What is an area action plan?
In order to address problems at a local level more effectively, five-neighbourhood management areas based on natural groupings of communities have been identified. Neighbourhood management is central to strengthening communities. It is part of a long-term plan in Gateshead to ensure local services are co-ordinated around the needs of individual neighbourhoods and are accountable to local people.
In order to take this work forward, an Area Action plan has been developed for each of the five areas. Each Plan focuses on linking opportunities in the area with neighbourhoods in need. They demonstrate how the borough-wide objectives of the Gateshead Community Strategy are being delivered in each neighbourhood management area and what more needs to be done.
