Volunteers needed for New Social Enterprise

Gateshead Economic Development Service are working in partnership with UK Sports Enterprises Ltd helping them set up and recruit for their new social enterprise based in the Greensfield Business Centre. Around fifty volunteers and a number of employed staff are required ranging from football coaches, managers, administrators and researchers. The objectives of the project are to deliver a unique system of enterprise education to schools and colleges in the local area to meet and exceed Ofstead requirements through a variety of new exciting sporting programs. To help kick off the recruitment Economic Development are to attend the volunteers week in Saltwell Park where they will have stands providing Information on recruitment and volunteering, UK Sports Enterprises, exercise, health and nutrition advice and how to sign up for the program. There will also be exercises and coaching tips on grass area. This event is aimed at promoting the project, drawing interest and engaging Gateshead residents many of who will successfully volunteer and employment through the scheme. Following the event, pre-employment training will be completed with the successful candidates helping prepare them for their new roles with UK Sports Enterprises. The volunteers will have the opportunity to develop and learn many new skills as well as coaching qualifications up to level three.

EDS will be present throughout the volunteering week Sun 1st June to Sat 7th supplying information on the social enterprises in Gateshead and the range of volunteering opportunities available within them. Additional information is available in our section on Social Enterprises|.
