The Compact on Relations between Gateshead Council and the Voluntary and Community Sector in Gateshead.
The compact on the relations between Gateshead Council and the Voluntary and Community sector in Gateshead was adopted in October 2002. The Compact is a framework for sound working relationships, based on shared aims and values, and an acknowledgement and respect of each other’s roles and responsibilities. Its purpose is to improve working relationships by encouraging a partnership approach with equal commitment on both sides to agreed working practices and guidelines.
The Compact is supported by four Codes of Practice adopted in October 2003 which give greater detail to the practical implementation of the Compact in four key areas:
-
Valuing Volunteers;
-
Community Participation, Consultation and Communication;
-
Black and Minority Ethnic Voluntary and Community Organisations;
-
Finance and Funding.
Representatives of both the Council and the voluntary and community sector developed the Codes of Practice.
