Sports grants

 

We are committed to help local athletes achieve their potential, and the following schemes are in place to support their progression within their chosen sport:

  • Sporting Individual Grants
  • Sports Training Pass
  • Talented Athlete Scheme

Sporting Individual Grants

Available to Gateshead residents, grants are aimed at those who compete on an individual basis or are selected for representative teams and are based upon achievement. All awards are made retrospectively and range between £100 to £400. For more information and to apply, see the application form and guidance notes.

Sports Training Pass

Available to Gateshead residents who have either competed in a final of a County Championship, or selected to represent their County Association of the National Governing Body of the particular sport.  A Sports Training Pass allows free use of some Gateshead Council sports facilities. Talented Athlete Scheme

The new Talented Athlete support scheme provides financial support for athletes to reach their full potential. The scheme will provide financial support of up to £1000 for athletes to support the cost of the following:

  • Travel (to training or competition)
  • Training
  • Equipment
  • Accommodation (competition)
  • Specialist support
