Kept awake by your neighbours having a party? Sick of listening to loud music all night? If you are being bothered by noise on weekend nights Gateshead Council could help.
Between Friday 7 January 2011 and Saturday 26 March 2011 we are running a ‘night time noise project’ to deal with nuisance noise.
This can be anything from barking dogs to alarms constantly sounding and the action we take will depend not only on the loudness and nature of the noise but also how long it lasts, when it happens and the circumstances of the person being disturbed.
The night time noise project runs on Fridays and Saturdays between 9pm and 3am. If you would like to complain about a noise problem in your neighbourhood you can contact the noise team via Northumbria Police on 03456 043 043 and we will respond to you as soon as we can.
If you would prefer to try and work things out with your neighbours without involving the police or the council you can contact UNITE, a free mediation service offered to all Gateshead residents, on 0191 454 7700.
A copy of the leaflet entitled “Are you bothered by noise?” is available to download below. Here you will find details of the actions the noise team can take, the processes involved and advice on how to be a considerate neighbour.
