Saltwell Crematorium

Saltwell crematorium opened in 1966. The crematorium is surrounded by extensive grounds and is situated within the Saltwell Conservation Area located next to Saltwell Park.  The chapel is set out in a simple dignified style and has seating for 78 people with extra room for standing. 

The chapel is available for funeral services of all denominations and sects and although there is a cross on the wall, this can be covered if so desired.

The book of remembrance provides an everlasting record and memorial for the deceased. In addition a digital version of the book of remembrance is available enabling you to access the inscriptions at anytime.  Visit book of remembrance for further information.

Garden of remembrance

Saltwell garden of remembrance

Saltwell crematorium has a garden of remembrance. This is a tranquil, landscaped garden where you will be able to reflect and remember your loved one in privacy. Many of the walks and borders in the formal part of the garden are edged with special kerbstones to which commemorative plaques can be attached.

The gates to the gardens of remembrance at Saltwell crematorium will be opened and closed as follows:

April - September

Monday to Saturday 9am - 7pm
Sundays and Bank Holidays 10am - 7pm

October-March

Monday to Saturday 9am - 3.45pm
Sundays and Bank Holidays 10am - 3.15pm

Floral tributes

Floral tributes will remain on display for three nights following the funeral. After the third night we will remove the flowers for recycling/disposal, unless otherwise instructed. 

This is at the discretion of the Cremation Authority.

We do not accept any responsibility for tributes left at the crematorium after a funeral service or placed in the Garden of Remembrance.

Car parking

There is a car park available within the crematorium grounds.  There is an overflow car park behind the crematorium, should you find that the car park is full on arrival.

Public Toilets

Toilets at Saltwell Crematorium are situated in the outbuilding opposite to the Book of Remembrance room. There are also toilets situated in the waiting area to the chapel.
