Gateshead Leisure Centre reopened on Saturday 17 April 2010.
At the newly refurbished Leisure Centre you will find:

Upgrading of the swimming pool

Additional teaching pool

New poolside sauna and steam rooms

3 fitness studios

We removed over 2,500 tonnes of walls and floors during the demolition, 95% of this was recycled

2,500 litres of paint was used in the facility

Over 4,000 sqm of ceiling tiles were used, that's a staggering 11,111 tiles
-
We installed 6,000 sqm of wall and floor tiles which equates to over 260,000 standard 6" tiles
