The Building an Active Future programme will be complete by Winter 2010.
The timetable for building works is now being looked at by Willmott Dixon. It is anticipated that building works will commence at more than one site at a time, however the exact plan has not been agreed but the outline timescales are:

Planning submission for all projects by September 2008

Gateshead Leisure Centre – Start Spring 2009, due to be complete Spring 2010

Replacement Blaydon Pool – Start Spring 2009, complete Summer 2010

Replacement Felling Pool – Start Summer 2009, complete Winter 2010

Dunston Pool – Start Spring 2010, complete Winter 2010

Birtley Pool – Start Spring 2010, complete Summer 2010
Work is now beginning as to how to manage the facilities whilst building work is taking place.

All 5 plans have been submitted for planning.
The first phase of development will see Gateshead Leisure Centre close for redevelopment on Sunday 11 January 2009
