Building an Active Future

building an Active FutureGateshead Council is investing £29 million in sport & leisure facilities in Gateshead. The Building an Active Future programme will bring new and updated leisure facilities for everyone to enjoy.

The Building an Active Future project will include:

  • A new leisure facility replacing Felling Pool, proposed site Heworth High Lanes
  • A new leisure facility replacing Blaydon Pool, proposed site former Blaydon School
  • The redevelopment of Gateshead Leisure Centre
  • The redevelopment of Birtley Pool
  • The redevelopment of Dunston Pool
