Youngsters in Gateshead now have a new and exciting way of getting activated at the specially designed, junior gym Activ8.
Based at Gateshead Leisure Centre, Activ8 is especially for young people and will offer a different and new way of keeping fit.
Custom made for seven to fourteen-year-olds under six feet, Activ8 features nine pieces of cardiovascular equipment and nine resistance machines. All the apparatus is designed to appeal to youngsters and fitted with safety mechanisms.
Located on the first floor of the leisure centre, the gym features all the luxuries of an adult gym, including air-conditioning and music.
Unlike usual gyms where exercisers can pick and choose which apparatus to use, each session in the Activ8 gym will comprise of a circuit training class, supervised by qualified fitness instructors.
Suitable for all fitness abilities, youngsters will circulate round using all the equipment and start and end each class with warm-up and cool down stretches to encourage them to learn good exercise practice. Drop-in sessions for families are also available, as long as all users are under six foot.
