Saltwell Park

If you want to learn how people used Saltwell Park in Victorian times or the different cycles plants go through, then why not come along to one of our Saltwell Explorers events.

The Saltwell Explorers project helps you to learn about everything the park has to offer through educational visits, craft events or hands on, practical conservation tasks.

Events for all of the family are arranged throughout the year with regular craft events at Christmas, Halloween and Easter. Other events include Spring planting, hanging bird feeders and guided walks.

The educational packages include National Curriculum criteria at key stages 1 and 2 and cover:

  • Green plants – life cycles
  • Living things in their environment: Adaptation
  • Living things in their environment: Food chains
  • Living things in their environment: Improving the environment
  • Variation and Classification
  • History  - How was local life different during Victorian times
