Blaydon Burn Nature Reserve

BBC at Blaydon Burn
Blaydon Burn BBC Springwatch Festival 2007

Once the heart of the industiral revolution in Gateshead, Blaydon Burn is a wonderful example of what happens when industry moves away and nature retuns. Over one mile long and covering over 100ha of woodland, grassland and wetland, Blaydon Burn is finally getting some TLC via the Blaydon Burn Project. You can now get involved in learning about and caring for the industiral archaeology and wildlife of Blaydon Burn as part of the Council's long-term project to care for and to create a new Local Nature Reserve there.

Opportunities for volunteering exist through the Gateshead Countryside Volunteers and the Friends of Blaydon Burn.

There are many access points including along from the Black Bull Pub off the B6317, Blaydon.
