Cycle Way Links from Consett



From Consett a link crosses the old steelworks site and joins the Consett and Sunderland Railway Path, Waskerley Way and Lanchester Valley Walk at Lydgetts Junction.

Cycle Way Links from Swawell



From Swalwell you can follow the Sustrans C2C long distance cycle route beside the River Derwent to join the Keelman's Way which runs along the south bank of the River Tyne between Wylam and Hebburn.

Sustrans C2C Long Distance Cycle Route



  • The Derwent Walk;
  • Derwenthaugh Park route;
  • Waskerley Way;
  • Consett and Sunderland Railway Path;
  • and Keelman's Way,

all form part of the Sustrans C2C long distance cycle route.

The route consists of 140 miles of minor roads and traffic free trails between Whitehaven or Workington on the west coast and Sunderland or Newcastle in the east.
