Angling Permits

Gateshead Council does not issue angling permits.

However, some of the sites managed by the council are leased to Angling Clubs and the following arrangements are in place.

Derwent Walk Country Park

Day tickets are available for a section of the river between Swalwell and Rowlands Gill at the Derwenthaugh Caravan Park, Rowlands Gill.

Tickets are available at a cost of £6.50 day from the following locations:

  • Winlaton Post Office.
  • Swalwell News Agent.
  • Axwell Park and Derwent Valley Angling Club,
    2 North Lodge
    Stagshaw House
    Corbridge
    NE45 5PG.

Stargate Pond (leased to the Ryton and District Angling Club)

There are no day tickets but annual membership is available at £20.

Pelaw Quarry Pond is leased to the Lakeside Angling Club

Contact Kenny Barnes on 0191 4950297 for details.

Shibdon and Ryton Willows Local Nature Reserves

No fishing is allowed.
