Horse-riding

More and more people are riding in Gateshead's countryside. There are already over 60km of bridleways, with a growing number of mini-user routes giving safe off-road riding.

Responsible horse riding is vital to the safety of the rider as well as the community so that everyone can enjoy the countryside together. When riding in the countryside remember:

  • Keep to legal bridleway routes;
  • Try to avoid damaging path surfaces;
  • Ride carefully past other path users;
  • Give way to pedestrians.
