The North East public marked a decade of the Angel of the North at a special tenth birthday party, although the festivities had to be cut short because of the weather.
Almost 2,000 people came along to mark the Angel's tenth birthday as part of an exciting family day, until high winds forced us to close the event early.
The event was abandoned at around 2.30pm on the advice of our safety officer due to high winds.
We would like to thank everyone who attended the party and apologize to those who were not able to come along and celebrate the Angel of the North's tenth anniversary.
Despite the high winds the crowds enjoyed an amazing tribute to the Angel which included music, dancing, street theatre, storytelling, great food, film, arts and crafts.
The lucky winner of the Kia 1.1 Picanto 2 was Mr Hopkinson from Wylam. His guess of 5,200 balls was the closest to the actual number of 5,197 balls which filled the car.
Angel Day was part of NewcastleGateshead's world-class programme of festivals and events in 2008, managed by culture10 at NewcastleGateshead Initiative.
