To celebrate 10 years of The Angel of the North we've created an audio slideshow to show the design, construction and work involved in building The Angel of the North.

We've trawled through our archive of images from 10 years ago and scanned a selection of slides including:

  • Scale model design;
  • Site preparation;
  • Construction work;
  • Transportation;
  • Erection at the site;
  • The completed Angel.

 

To accompany the images we interviewed Anthony Gormley to get his perspective on The Angel of the North 10 years on. He tells us what it was like working on the Angel, and how he sees its impact on the people of Gateshead.
