St Mary’s bookshop was launched in May 2015 and is dedicated solely to the region’s history boasting an extensive range of books about Gateshead, Newcastle and the surrounding areas.
It stocks the largest range of local history titles relating to Tyne and Wear produced by local publisher Summerhill Books, including ‘Memories of Felling’, ‘Low Fell in Old Picture Postcards’ and ‘Newcastle’s Old Pubs’. Titles from other publishers including Tyne Bridge, Amberley and History Press are also well stocked, giving shoppers a great choice and an ideal place to find a gift for local history lovers.
As well as books, there is a great range of stationery from popular supplier Museums and Galleries, and of local history prints from Gateshead Local Studies archive, so you can take away your own little piece of Gateshead’s history!
