A unique venue for all occasions
St Mary’s Heritage Centre has developed a tradition for hosting unique events and activities such as art installation, local history talks, concerts and performances, including unforgettable annual Winter Festival installation.
The building is available for private hire for wedding receptions, conferences, meetings, workshops, parties, business launches, formal dinners and much more.
Ideally located on Gateshead’s Quayside, with the majestic Tyne Bridge as its backdrop, the centre is well served by public transport. There is a small car park for visitors with ample pay parking nearby.
Spaces available for hire
St Mary’s Heritage Centre is open to the public daily from Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 4pm and therefore the building can be hired for private evening events and all day Sunday or Monday. On a Saturday the venue is available to hire from 1pm on request.

The main hall
The capacity for the building is 110 people for a banquet-style event and 150 people for a less formal setting.
The chancel is available to hire during the centre’s normal opening hours making it an ideal meeting space. The chancel can accommodate up to 50 people for an intimate reception, meeting, workshop or concert.
Equipment and support
We have a range of furniture and equipment included as part of hiring the building such as tables, chairs, PA and microphones, screens and projector and theatre lighting. Tea, coffee and biscuits can be provided and staff can advise on catering options for large functions.

As part of the hire you will have the appropriate number of staff for the size of your event, and they will be on hand for the security of the building and your guests.
