The Garden Active and Healthy Gateshead

Every year, for five days in May, the grounds of the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, are transformed into the fabulous show gardens, inspirational small gardens and vibrant horticultural displays that make up the world's most famous flower show. The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show is the first event of the summer season and showcases the finest examples of horticultural excellence, created by the bestgarden designers, plantsmen and plantswomen.

This year our entry into the Chelsea Flower Show won a coveted silver medal. 

About the Garden

The design brief and theme for this years Chelsea garden is ‘Active and Healthy Gateshead’, highlighting the benefits of green exercise, healthy and self sufficient living.

The design by Alan J Smith OBE of Redbox Design Group is sponsored by the Bupa Great North Run

It pays homage to the world-famous Bupa Great North Run and features the installation of a mini Tyne Bridge, constructed of steel and stone measuring 14m long by 4m high.
