Event support

For most events we need 12 weeks’ notice to make sure you meet all statutory requirements.

For any event you plan on holding in Gateshead it is important that you complete the event enquiry form.

  • Charity fun runs
  • Music/food festivals
  • Funfairs
  • Firework displays
  • and many more.

We have broad and extensive experience of delivering world class events across Gateshead.

If you are a corporate partner, community group or a charity we can provide advice and guidance to help you plan your event in Gateshead.

Advice for event planners (86Kb) provides guidance on how to achieve a safe event and explains the role of the Safety Advisory Group.

To promote a co-ordinated response to any emergency and ensure that your event is run safely complete and return the Event Plan (254Kb).

Please note statutory requirements below which may affect your event.  

Key timescales and notice periods
 Week prior to event/deadline Action to be taken
 12 Submit event enquiry form to Culture Team.
 10 Submit initial event plan to Culture Team.
 8 Traffic Management deadline (TTRO) eight week notice period.
 5 Street Trading licence deadline 20 working day notice period
 4 Street party - road closure deadline, four week notice period.

Temporary event notice deadline 10 working day notice period.

Car park closure deadline seven working day notice period.
