Stones Garden - Alberto Carneiro

Alberto Carneiro, a Portuguese sculptor, has made a 'stones garden' for the former Derwenthaugh Cokeworks, near to the Derwent Walk within the site of the old viaduct. This artwork is part of the Four Seasons Project undertook in 1996 and represents that Autumn.

The 'stone garden' was created to represent the zen gardens of the Far East and features five large stones sited in a raised brick bed filled with grey granite chips. Each stone has been given a different names including 'The Mother Stone', 'The Waterfall Stone', 'The Cave Stone', 'The Moon Stone' and 'The Boat Stone'.
