Circling Partridges - Graciela Ainsworth

Circling Partridges - Graciela Ainsworth

Circling Partridges was commissioned to represent ‘Spring’ from the Four Season’s project developed for the Year of the Visual Arts in 1996. A concrete filled-drum is suspended between two steel rings allowing it to rock and move in the wind creating a circular motion.  Two steels rods rise from the drum, each featuring a partridge carved from yellow stone. The drum is inscribed with lines of text taken from Julian Grenfell, a First World War poet. Graciela also created text of her own based on the relationship with nature, words and sculpture and a poem.
