Arts in Health Development Project

There are a number of Arts in Health projects in our Arts Development Programme each year. We support ongoing long term projects like:

Prime Time

A borough wide project with members across Gateshead which encourages older people to stay culturally active through woodcarving, creative writing, performing or photography.

Hearts and Ships
Happy Hearts

Happy Hearts Lantern Festival

An annual festival which encourages the community and pupils of Wrekenton and Springwell to look at health food, healthy hearts and a procession through the community.

Gateshead Health Trust

We work closely with Gateshead Health Trust on artist workshops, residencies and commisions. Recent projects include:

  • Tranwell Unit Sculpture Garden;
  • Photography residency with Sharon Bailey and the Older People's Directorate;
  • Glass commision with Gavin marshall in the Radiology Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
