Compulsory School Aged Employment Information

School aged children wishing to take part time jobs must be licensed by the Local Authority in which they are to be employed.

  • A school child must be thirteen years old before a licence is granted.
  • The number of permitted working hours are dependant on the age of the child.
  • There are some employments which are prohibited to school children.

For further information please read the attached leaflet which can be accessed using the 'Document' box on the right hand side of the page.

Please note failure to comply with licensing regulations could result in legal action being taken against the employer.
