It can often be tough to meet the costs of starting a new job after being unemployed for a long period of time. We offer grants to help people get started.
Who can apply?
We may be able to help you with a Back to Work Grant if:

you have been unemployed and need some financial help so you can travel to your new job or buy specialist tools;

If you live in Gateshead and have been out of work for more than eight weeks.
What can you get help with?
As long as your new job is more than 16 hours per week for more than 12 weeks we might be able to help you pay for:

Tools and equipment;

Training;

Transport;
-
Childcare;
-
Work clothing;
-
Essential costs of starting employment.
We have an eligibility criteria and all applications must be received before you start work or within seven days of doing so.

Global Grants. Global grants are aimed at helping people get back into work and can be paid to both organisations and individuals. Examples of this sort of grant include individuals applying for funding to help them with transport or clothes for a job interview.
