Central Gateshead offers a series of development opportunities at the heart of the Tyneside conurbation.
Ongoing regeneration will develop the area into a 21st century town centre – a vibrant new shopping and commercial heart for Gateshead. Ambitious plans include an improved range of high street and independent shops, cafes and restaurants and leisure facilities, as well as an additional 1,000 homes.
A number of sites are available allocated for mixed use development including Retail (A1, A2, A3, A4), Office (B1), hotels (C1), Leisure (D2) and residential (C3) on upper floors.
Recent development successes include the 23,000sqm mixed-use Trinity Square scheme, completed in May 2013 by Spenhill – the biggest retail-led mixed use development outside of London at that time.
Trinity Square encompasses 40 new shops, a cinema, health centre, food supermarket, offices and 1,000 bed student accommodation in central Gateshead.
Around 1,000 new homes are planned for the area known as the Exemplar Neighbourhood (ExNe) on brownfield land stretching from the edge of the existing St James’ Village to Central Gateshead.
