Do you need support because you are being subject to domestic abuse or have been subject to domestic abuse?
The Domestic Abuse Housing Support Service has been set up to provide practical and emotional support to people who have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse.
Support in your own home
Support can be provided to you in your own home with weekly visits from the support worker. Support can also be provided at an alternative location if requested.
The Domestic Abuse Housing Support Service offers support to victims who are tenants of Gateshead Housing Company, Housing Associations, Private Landlords or Homeowners. Support at your home can only be provided to a household where the violent partner is no longer present.
Support can also be provided to a victim who is living temporarily with family/friends while waiting to be safely rehoused away from an abusive ex-partner.
Still living with your abusive partner?
If you are still living with your abusive partner and want to leave then you can apply to be rehoused through the Council's Housing Options| services. Alternatively if you are still living with your abusive partner and just want some initial advice and guidance, you can contact the domestic abuse support workers at the Civic Centre, on the phone or by e-mail using the contact details on the left.

There are furnished properties across the Gateshead area which are used to temporarily accommodate victims of domestic abuse.
