There are over 61,500 private sector dwellings in Gateshead. 

Gateshead Councils Private Sector Housing Renewal Strategy sets out the Councils vision –

 'To improve private sector housing conditions in Gateshead, and facilitate the provision of decent and affordable homes located in sustainable communities'.

This Strategy has recently undergone review to make sure that it continues to respond to changing priorities, and new Government Legislation.
