Sheltered Housing

What is Sheltered Housing?

It provides self-contained unfurnished accommodation designed to meet the needs of persons of pensionable age, and in some circumstances below the relevant age but with specific disabilities.

Within Gateshead both the Council and Housing Associations have Sheltered accommodation schemes.  You will need to complete a housing register|  application form to apply for Council sheltered housing.  You can apply to housing association’s directly for sheltered housing, or if you show on the Council’s housing application form that you will consider housing association sheltered housing we will then be able to consider you for a nomination when a vacancy occurs.
