How to Get a Council House

Man outside housePeople who want a house in the borough must apply to be included on the Council’s Housing Register.  Council housing in Gateshead is managed by The Gateshead Housing Company and you can apply either through them or through Housing Services at the Civic Centre.

The Council and The Gateshead Housing Company now operate a new way to access Council housing, this is called HomeChoice.  Please click on the Homechoice icon below for more information about it.

In addition to accessing the HomeChoice| website you can obtain need further information about applying for housing by contacting the Housing Advice Section on 0191 433 2612 by e-mail housingadvice@gateshead.gov.uk| or by contacting any local housing office of The Gateshead Housing Company
