Tenant & Resident Groups

We want to make sure all tenants and residents have the chance to get involved in their community.

Here you can find out what tenant and resident’s associations do, where you can find them in your area, the information they can provide, and how you can get involved.

Associations are groups of volunteers from the local community who aim to:

  • Involve tenants and residents in local issues.
  • Involve tenants and residents in housing issues.
  • Help to build communities.

Associations can help local tenants and residents with housing and environmental issues, and also provide information about the area.

Meetings are usually held monthly, or more often if needed, and some groups produce newsletters about local issues.

Any resident in the area can get involved. You can attend meetings, go to social events, or join the committee.

The amount of time you would spend supporting your local group is up to you - any help would be appreciated.

All of the associations in your area are listed here.

The Neighbourhood Management Team of Gateshead Council's Community Based Services provides support and assistance to Residents Groups throughout Gateshead.
