Apply directly to housing associations within the Borough
Seek privately rented accommodation. Landlords often advertise within local newspapers (See Privately Rented Accommodation|)
Short term stay with family or friends. This may be your best emergency option if possible, even if it's only for a few nights while you find your own accommodation or seek further advice.
Short term stay in bed and breakfast accommodation. Bed and breakfast hotels tend to be more expensive than hostels and you will probably need money for rent in advance. You may not be allowed to stay in your room during the day and some will not accept people who are claiming for housing benefit.
Emergency hostels and night shelters usually provide accommodation for just a few nights and may take people on the door if they have room. It is usually best to telephone in advance to see if there are any vacancies.
