Tenancy Agreement

The current Tenancy Agreement has been in use since October 2000 and due to new legislation introduced through the Housing Act 2004, in particular relating to Right to Buy and anti-social behaviour, the agreement had to be revised.

A letter was sent to all tenants in April 2007 detailing the proposed changes and asking for comments, all comments received were taken into consideration and where appropriate incorporated into the new agreement. We have also tried to increase accessibility and ease of understanding by using pictures to illustrate some of the terms.

The new agreement was approved by Gateshead Council's Cabinet in October 2007 and will come into effect on 3 March 2008.

If you are uncertain about any parts of the new agreement and how it affects you then contact your nearest housing office.

However if you have any further queries regarding the revision of the agreement contact Julie Lamb at Gateshead Council on telephone 0191 433 2916 or email julielamb@gateshead.gov.uk|.
