When it comes to keeping your streets, parks and schools clean, green and safe, Gateshead Council s working hard to make sure your borough is a pleasant place to live, both now and in the future.
You've told us that litter, graffiti and fly tipping are your key concerns and we are working hard to tackle these problems:
-
We have changed the way we clean your streets and look after your green spaces – which means we can work quicker and more efficiently.
-
You told us that you wanted cleaner streets. We listened by spending council budget on hundreds of new litterbins and issuing £50 fixed penalty notices to people caught deliberately spoiling the streets by not using them.
-
You told us that you feel intimidated and uncomfortable when graffiti appears in your community. We listened and have invested in a rapid response team dedicated to removing graffiti.
-
Fly tipping is illegal – it makes our borough untidy, creates a hazard and costs us thousands of pounds a year to clean up.
