If you’ve got goods you don’t want – don’t throw them away! There are plenty of schemes that can take your unwanted goods and find them new homes.
Car
Giveacar.co.uk is a social enterprise that raises money for charities by accepting donations of unwanted cars. Givacar arranges the collection of vehicles anywhere in the UK for free, and every car is either recycled to high environmental standards or sold at auction. Each car that is scrapped or sold generates a donation which is then directed to the owner’s chosen registered charity!
Furniture
The Furniture Reuse Network is a national body that co-ordinates 400 furniture and appliance re-use and recycling organisations in the UK that collect a wide range of household items to pass onto people in need.
Foundations Furniture
Foundations Furniture accepts donations of furniture and household items from homes in Gateshead and surrounding areas. Collections are made from most areas free of charge. All donated items are distributed free of charge to families and individuals in need within the Gateshead Borough.
Contact Linda Wilde at the furniture project at Units 1 & 2, Teams Village Workshops, Askew Road, Teams, Gateshead or by calling 0191 477 8337. The opening hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 4.30pm.
