Do not put in the recycling bin

At present we are unable to take the items listed below in your blue bin.  Some of the items can be recycled at other locations in Gateshead.

Where to take items
Cartons (Tetra Pak) Bring Sites.
Dense plastics (toys, cups, chairs etc). Household Waste and Recycling Centres.
Windowpanes, cookware, Pyrex, windscreens.  Household Waste and Recycling Centres.
Plastic bags. Supermarkets with bag recycling facilities.
Plastic films, food trays, yoghurt pots, tin foil, shredded paper, polystyrene. Cannot currently be recycled.

If your blue recycling bin is found to contain items which cannot be recycled, a contamination label will be placed on the handle, and your bin may not be emptied. This is to prevent items contaminating the load. Contaminated loads will have to go to landfill rather than for recycling.
