Green-it

 

Green-it is your garden waste recycling service that will turn your unwanted grass cuttings, leaves and pruning into something useful.

Green-it collection dates are provided in the table below. Your last Green-it collection in 2011 will take place week commencing 14th November (week 1) or week commencing 21st November (week 2).  Green-it collections will resume in Spring 2012.

Your Green-it bin is collected every fortnight, on the same day as your household waste is collected.

Please note these are week commencing dates. Due to the nature of collection rounds, collection times can vary each week, so please put your Green-it bin out by 7.30am on your collection day.

What can go in the bin?

The following items must be put in your Green-it bin loose. Please do not wrap or bag your garden waste before putting it in the bin. Please make sure all your loose garden waste is contained in the bin with the lid closed. We will not remove any extra garden waste left beside the wheeled bin.

  • Grass cuttings
  • Hedge trimmings
  • Leaves
  • Flowers and plants
  • Shrubs
  • Small branches (less than 5cm diameter) and twigs
  • Turf/soil - small quantities only

Please do not place any of the following items in your Green-it bin as these items will contaminate the load and make it unsuitable for composting.

  • Kitchen/food waste
  • Turf/soil/stones
  • Flower pots and seed trays
  • Any plastics
  • Pet fouling/cat litter
  • Nappies
  • Vacuum cleaner contents
  • Large branches
  • Metals/glass/paper/cardboard
  • Timber/planks of wood
  • General household waste

Bank Holidays

Your regular Green-it collection day will change in the same way as your waste and recycling collection days.
