When will my bin be collected?

Your household waste bin is collected fortnightly. Use the bin checker to find your next collection date.

When to put your bin out

Bins should be put out by 7.30am on your collection day and taken in the same day.

What can I put in my household waste wheeled bin?

Your household bin is for household and food waste, and items which cannot be recycled or put in your garden waste bin.

The bin should not be so full as to prevent the lid being fully closed, or too heavy to prevent moving, as the vehicle has a weight sensor which will not allow a heavy bin to be emptied.

What if my bin is not big enough?

Occasionally, you may have some extra bags of rubbish that will not fit into your bin. Do not put this out next to your wheeled bin, as it will not be taken. Instead:

  • double check if it can be recycled in your blue recycling bin (or communal recycling facilities) or taken to a recycling bank
  • take the rubbish to one of our Household Waste and Recycling Centres. You do not need a permit if you are going to the site in a family car, MPV or estate car without a trailer
  • arrange a bulky household waste collection (charges apply for this service)

What if I cannot manage to move my bin?

We understand that some people are not able to move their bins to the collection area. Find out about requesting an assisted bin collection.

Replacement bins

Replacement bins can be ordered. There is a charge of £35 towards the cost of the replacement bin.
